French baritone Benoît Déchelotte played the Count in The Marriage of Figaro with Opéra éclaté, Scapin in a production of Gluck’s Merlin’s Island at the Opéra-Comique in Paris and Gardefeu in La Vie Parisienne with Opéra Côté Choeur
He was on stage Moralès and Dancaïre in Carmen, Guglielmo in Cosi fan tutte (Les Escales lyriques), Escamillo in Carmen (St Pauls Opera), Belcore in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore (Longhope opera), Chairman Walsingham in A feast in time of Plague by César Cui (Oxford Opera Society), The Cicerone in Paris, à nous deux! by Jean Françaix, Ben in Le Téléphone by Menotti and Valentin in Le Petit Faust by Hervé.
Also passionate with songs, he is a 2024-2026 Young Artist of the Oxford Song International Festival in duo with pianist Sarah Murer, culminating in October 2025 with a recital around the Orient Express. Other duo projects are emerging, such as the Duo Epicure with pianist Valentin Barray with recitals pairing music, wine and gastronomy.
Grand prize at the 2023 Grand Prix des maîtres du chant, he is 2nd prize at the 2023 Canary International Competition. He is a laureate of the Tenor Vinas competition in 2024.
He obtained his master’s degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with Samantha Malk and Stephan Loges, was a Young Talent at the Jaroussky Academy (Debussy promotion) and then got his Artist Diploma at the Ecole Normale de Musique Cortot with Edwin Crossley Mercer and Daniel Ottevaere. During his studies, he received the prestigious scholarship of the International Opera Awards Foundation.
